Description:
My practice embodies the journey of finding oneself, exploring, igniting, and reflecting experienced emotions through a pictorial representation.
One’s life is full of phases and each new phase brings with it renewed excitement, rewards and challenges, satisfactions & dissatisfactions. In the process, we change, accommodate, and learn to adapt our life to different scenarios, charting a previously uncharted territory and what is left behind is a new individual, waiting for another opportunity to explore and grow.
My works are like a pentimento of emotional illnesses that have been recomposed - the traces are still visible but the composition keeps changing and evolving, morphing itself with each blank sheet of paper. A lesson for all of us- the place we really have to come to terms with imperfection, melancholy, and age, is in ourselves.
Each artwork is an attempt at learning to live life with the ideals of Wabi-Sabi in mind and to find greater satisfaction in humbler moments of life itself. By using different faces to show that the beauty of impermanence, imperfection lies in all of us. It is not derived from the love of invincibility, youth, flawlessness but from a respect for what is passing, fragile, broken & modest.
In the end, the ultimate destination is to seek a deeper perspective into life i.e the “Satori” which is a Japanese Buddhist term for awakening, referring to a deep experience of Kenshō, seeing into one's true nature.
