Art, in my opinion, is a product of time; a product shaped against the various social, political and religious backdrops of life. It is this assimilatory nature of art that inspires my work. To portray the same, I employ the use of 'self-portrait' and represent the female figure and her emotions in my artworks. I carefully introspect and look into my strongest thoughts and desires to shed light on the hidden. I am particularly driven by my personal experiences, fears, and interests. Looking at personal objects from the intimate environment and interconnecting those with the people and life, I try to put together a puzzle. I become the protagonist from the stories in my mind. Through art, I seek to explore the edges of everyday life in a city. With representational forms and images, words, textures, and colors, culled from the intimate complexities of life, I paint to investigate the rituals of 'living' and life’s permeability. And through experiments into possibilities obtained from an array of media, I transform those objects around me into a creative language.
